Helen’s Pure Foods, located in Cheltenham, was started by, well, Helen, who loved hummus. But in 1978, very few people in the region knew what hummus was. So Helen made her own at home . . . fresh . . . from real, natural ingredients. When friends came over, Helen often served them her hummus, which they loved. In fact, they liked it so much that they encouraged Helen to make lots of hummus and to start selling it to the local stores so they could enjoy her hummus at any time. And so began the legendary Helen’s Pure Foods company. Helen became an early female entrepreneur, and Helen’s hummus led to Helen’s Tabouli Salad, Couscous Salad, Baba Ghannouj, and many others, as well as to a growing, loyal following of customers who love her products.

Rich Goldberg, who took over Helen’s Pure Foods in 1990, shares the founders passion for using only the best natural ingredients, freshly prepared. Even today as a much larger company, Helen’s still has no warehouse and uses no preservatives. Products are made fresh, shipped fresh, and enjoyed fresh. It’s Helen’s legacy.
