Italian Chocolate Whiskey Cookies

Ingredients

  • 7 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 2 1/4 C milk
  • 1 Cup cocoa
  • 2 TBL whiskey (optional)

Instructions

  1. Put all dry ingredient in order.
  2. Cut in shortening, then add milk and whiskey.
  3. Mix well. roll into small meatballs (1 inch).
  4. If too sticky, add a little more flour, if too dry, add a little more milk. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes on greased and floured cookie sheet.

Icing

  • 1 lb powdered sugar
  • 4-5 TBL cocoa
  • 1 tsp shortening
  • 1-2 TBL boiling water (or enough to make spreadable)

Mix all ingredients and frost when completely cool with chocolate frosting.

Makes about 100 cookies
