Back when I lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin there was always good beer to drink. After all, this beer loving city bordering Lake Michigan was once heralded as the beer capital of the world! But every now and again, a local bar would advertise the tapping of a rare, exclusive edition, highly sought-after keg. It was on such an occasion that I first tasted Zombie Dust from Indiana’s 3 Floyd’s Brewing. This American Pale Ale scores 100 on both BeerAdvocate and RateBeer.com and for good reason. The “intensely hopped and gushing undead pale ale” pours a light amber hue with an intense aroma. It is bitter and bold and it is available in cans at the Swarthmore Co-Op. Yes, a little over a year ago, 3 Floyd’s scaled their canning operation and delivery distribution. We are the beneficiaries, for this Midwestern gem has traveled its way east and found a home on our humble Co-op’s shelves. The can art by comic book artist, Tim Seeley, is enough to incentivize a purchase. So, don’t wait until Halloween to give Zombie Dust a try, it’s an ale that will challenge even the most discerning craft beer critics to find error with its composition.
